Darlys “Dee” Scoggins, age 77, of Galesburg, Illinois died on October 20, 2009 at 4:45 A.M. at the Knox Nursing Home and Rehab, after a short fight with cancer.
She was born on April 15, 1932 in Bristol, South Dakota to Harry and Mary Goff Kolkman whom preceded her in death along with two brothers, Donald and Wilfred Kolkman, and an infant brother.
She married Edward Scoggins on April 2, 1949. They had three children; a son, Lee (Mary Allworth) Scoggins of Raleigh, North Carolina, two daughters, Vicky (Sam) Reynolds of San Leandro, California and Robbie (Michael Coxe) Nicaise of Selma, North Carolina; one stepdaughter, Ruthann (Jim) Waldron of San Leandro, California.
Darlys is also survived by two sisters, Helen Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Marilyn Steinbron of Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada; three brothers, James (Glenda) Kolkman of Rapid City, South Dakota, Robert (Pearl) Kolkman of Elko, Nevada and Richard Kolkman of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She had seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
Darlys “Dee” managed many restaurants in and around the Galesburg area, retiring in 1998 from the Kozy Inn.
