The biggest thing about taking close up (or macro) shots is to use a tripod. With the magnification, it is hard to keep the focus sharp without using one. I also used a telephoto lens that has a macro setting, which contributed to the success of this shot. If I had it to do over, I would use a different aperture setting to keep the whole flower more sharply in focus, but this turned out pretty good.
The color is stunning. I need to learn how to take a close up!
