Jaffer: I guess it is a niche, isn't it?

Linda: I've never been inside the house, but plan to soon. It was built in the late 1700s and is part of Historic Stagville, which was a plantation outside of Durham, NC. It is one of the few plantation houses still in existence, but also that ever existed. Extensive plantations were not that common in North Carolina. This one in particular was once almost 30,000 acres with over 900 slaves working to support the tobacco and cotton production. There are also 2 or 3 two-story slave quarters that have survived and still stand. They are actually in fairly good condition and I have pictures of them as well. There is also a huge old barn on one of the parcels of land.

Dawn and Robert: Come on down to North Carolina and you can visit the house. It is open to the public as is other surviving building from the original plantation.
